Spa Review: Sheraton Grand Los Cabos

Written by Sandra Berry

The Sheraton Grand Los Cabos Hacienda del Mar is home to Cactus Spa, a tranquil retreat in this oceanside resort only eight miles north of Cabo San Lucas in southern Baja of Mexico. This peaceful sanctuary features flickering candles, exquisite wood, expansive windows for natural light and aroma of lavender.

Whether for a single treatment or a day of pampering, this modernistic European-style spa is the place to invigorate and illuminate your body and spirit. Separate men’s and women’s locker rooms have all the amenities: robes, slippers, large fluffy towels, hair dryer, razor, and shower facilities.

A typical spa day could start with a body scrub or Vichy shower, followed by a relaxing massage or body treatment. Cactus Spa offers a choice of over a dozen flavors and techniques, such as a Chocolate Body Wrap, Mango Paradise, Green Coffee to break down cellulite, or one for tired legs and feet.

One of their signature treatments, the Cactus massage uses melted warm oil, poured from a candle on strategic body parts that offer soothing heat. All-day pampering is the most wonderful gift to give yourself. In between services, sip on cool water infused with fresh fruit, take a break for a light lunch brought from one of Sheraton’s fine eateries then continue with a facial such as “The Cure” to de-puff and de-circle the eyes.

The indulgence continues in the full-service beauty salon for manicure, pedicure, hair design and make up. There are packages for everyone: newlyweds, men, groom and, of course, bride-to-be. Couples can enjoy a couples’ massage, followed by relaxation in the beautiful rock courtyard surrounded with green foliage, a waterfall and hot and cold pools.
